PREFLIGHT/PRODUCTION SPECIALIST
The Preflight and Production Specialist will share their time between preflighting files for print and helping produce the finished jobs.
For Preflight the primary responsibility is to ensure accurate and timely movement of files for print jobs to the RIP for processing and printing.
This includes the ability to check customer supplied files to ensure they are set up correctly for printing fixing any issues that can be fixed creating designs for customers who request it creating proofs for customer approval and communicating clearly with customers to solve problems and achieve a successful outcome for each print job.
They are responsible for managing the process to ensure files are processed in a timely manner to meet the deadlines of each job.
They must work closely with the Print Production Manager to ensure jobs are set up to print on the correct printer and media in the most efficient manner as to reduce waste.
They are required to communicate with the owner manager and other team members any issues with job production.
They will also be responsible for customer service including helping trouble shoot customer file problems answering design and color questions and consulting with customers regarding their order.
For Productionthe responsibilities include producing complex orders and operating large format equipment.
They will work with the production team in managing monitoringand facilitating all systems equipment and production.
They may be required to perform all aspects of finishing jobs trimming laminatingmounting perform quality checks on all jobs prior to shipping properly package orders and ensure that they are shipped out in a timely manner.
They are required to communicate with the Production Manager and other team members any issues with job productionincluding but not limited to printer malfunctions media issues inventory requirements for media hardware and shipping supplies.
Download incoming files for each job and create job folders on the file server.
Check customer files for proper sizing and setup to ensure print quality.
Identify and correct any potential file problems including such issues as missing fonts low resolution images mixed color spaces incorrect overprints etc.
Communicate with customers when file problems cant be fixed to get the customer to correct the issues and supply new files.
Create and send customers email proofs in accordance to workflow requirements but generally the same day or within up to hours of receipt depending on the order timing.
Provide design quotes as required.
Create designs as required for customer jobs and collaborate with customer to meet their design needs and obtain their approval for final printing.
Provide customer service including problem solving to help ensure a successful print job for the customer.
Follow instructions of general manager and other team members as necessary.
Take preemptive action to prevent errors and waste.
Troubleshoot customer problems using extensive knowledge of company policies solutions and resources.
Communicate with management to keep them informed of any issues Customer service as needed Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Responsible for monitoring the efficiency of the workflow and providing feedback to the owners as to areas of improvement needed.
Must learn all aspects of the RIP software and color profiling process.
Responsible for production on assigned orders including finishing services and large job coordination.
Process and produce orders in accordance to workflow requirements or as directed.
Previous printing experience preferred but not required.
Must be proficient with Adobe Creative Suite particularly Photoshop and Illustrator.
InDesign proficiency is helpful but not required.
Ability to communicate effectively to customers vendors supervisors and fellow employees.
Ability on a consistent basis to function at a high level in a extremely fastpaced environment under substantial pressure.
Ability on a consistent basis to perform work activities requiring cooperation and instruction.
Ability on a consistent basis to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to stand during entire shift excluding breaks.
Ability to move and lift lbs.
