Job Description

Purpose
Under the direction of Snowmaking Manager.
To maintain the snow guns, hoses, hydrant and pump during the when snowmaking is operational.
Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility
1. Operate and maintain snowmaking equipment.
2. Constant relocation of guns and hoses to various areas around the mountain. This requires large amounts of hiking and use of snowmobiles.
3. Comply with all safety procedures within Mountain Operations.
Interactions
1. Occasional contact with guests.
2. Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management, and other departments.
3. Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.
Education & Experience Requirements
1. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. 0-6 months of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.
Specific Requirements:
1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Must be able to ski or snowboard and have the ability to pass a knee physical.
3. No certifications needed for this postion.
Skills & Knowledge
Technical: Must be a competent skier or boarder. Requires some mechanical skills. Requires interpersonal skills sufficient to work closely with other snowmakers. Must be able to accurately report malfunctions of the snowmaking equipment to the supervisor.
Administrative: Required to complete nightly work and maintenance logs.
Working Conditions
Work Schedule:
1. Specific Shift: Graveyard shift - 3 days per week, 12 hour shifts. Must be able to work any day of the week including weekends and holidays.
Mental:
1. Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
2. May experience unusual stress from continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
Physical:
1. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
2. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
3. Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
4. Work is outdoors and requires constant exposure to cold and other extreme weather conditions.
5. Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
