System Administrator
Telarus is seeking a System Administrator to architect, maintain, and monitor our web servers, database servers, file servers, and local network. Our ideal candidate will be motivated by the opportunity to take ownership of our infrastructure and enjoy a wide degree of autonomy.
Current infrastructure:
3 production web servers running Windows Web Server 2008 R2, Apache 2.2, and ColdFusion 8.
2 database servers running Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise and SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition. One server is live and the other is a failover with transaction based replication.
1 staging server running SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition, Windows Web Server 2008 R2, Apache 2.2, and ColdFusion 8.
2 file servers running Ubuntu Linux.
4 Sonicwall physical firewalls (2 x 2400 & 2 x 240).
2 Barracuda 340 load balancers.
45 employee Windows and Mac PCs.
Google email and calendars.
Sysadmin responsibilities including but not limited to:
Maintenance of current infrastructure.
Identification and implementation of infrastructure upgrades to accommodate growth.
Monitoring of systems to identify outages and resource shortages (memory, storage, bandwidth, etc) using tools such as Nagios and SolarWinds.
Data backups and restoration.
Patching and upgrades of Windows, SQL Server, and ColdFusion.
Scheduled work outside of 8am - 5pm can be compensated with a flexible schedule or contracted under your direction.
This is a great opportunity for someone who feels they have the skill necessary to oversee a growing infrastructure and the self-motivation to continue building on those skills. This is a not a position for someone with a technical support background who is looking for an entry level sysadmin opportunity.
